Your Better Business Bureau is excited to offer Smarter Living for Students. This free program is offered to teens and young adults, age 16+, in the Central Valley from Merced to Bakersfield and focuses on situations that students face as they move out on their own.
Smarter Living for Students is a 1- hour long interactive program designed to educate young adults on how to become better informed consumers and ways they can protect themselves from falling victim to identity theft or other potential scams.
Each session is filled with open discussions; games; role-playing and lots of fun prizes for participation.
Forget boring lectures and canned presentations. Smarter Living for Students teaches the “real” facts of life:
- Buying a vehicle, new or used: what to look for; what’s covered; what’s not
- Renting an apartment
- Building and Protecting your credit rating
- Contracts: what to look for before signing
- Cell phones: Do you know what your contract covers?
- Deposits on utilities
- Resources to help you know and protect your rights
- Identity theft
- Job Scams
- How to look for that first job and much more
- How to use the Better Business Bureau
These are just a few of the topics we may cover during one of our hour long presentations. This program is absolutely free of charge and includes an informational take home packet that will be useful for future reference.
